Renuka Residence, Hyderabad
At the heart of the Residence stands an 11-foot natural rock. The first design decision, and in many ways the most important one, was to leave it exactly where it was. Everything that followed was a response to that choice.
Situated on a site of 1,672 sq. m. with a total built-up area of 671.7 sq. m., the residence unfolds around this geological presence rather than beside it. The rock is visible from every part of the interior as a constant, grounding reference point that gives the home its particular quality of stillness.
Materials and atmosphere
The interiors are rich and considered, carrying an antique quality that echoes the textures and weight of the landscape outside. In the master bedroom, a mezzanine library occupies the upper level. Materials were chosen for their resonance with the context — warm, layered, and unhurried.
Between solitude and gathering
The layout is organised to be both introspective and generous. Large openings dissolve the boundary between inside and out, allowing the residence to transform from a private retreat in its quieter hours to an open, resort-like space for gatherings where the rock becomes a natural backdrop to conversation and shared life.
